Whether you are cruising comfortably or racing on a track, outstanding precision and agility constantly define the M typical driving sensation.
High-performance M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine.
The latest version of the high-performance M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine guarantees performance in keeping with the latest standards. The high-revving unit develops an output of 460 kW (625 hp). The two turbochargers stand out thanks to their cross-cylinder bank exhaust manifold with optimum response characteristics. The V8 engine is also designed for extreme loads on the race track.
M specific suspension.
Featuring the Active M differential, the M specific suspension exquisitely highlights the vehicle's dynamic potential. In addition to the three driving modes COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+, you can also choose between three different Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) settings in order to adapt the level of stabilising support to suit your preferred style of driving.
M xDrive.
BMW M xDrive with Active M differential guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. You can choose between the two drive variants 4WD and 4WD Sport.
8-speed M Steptronic transmission.
The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: from extremely dynamic to particularly comfortable, and smooth to fuel-saving. You can shift manually using the gear lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, or put the vehicle into automatic mode and let the transmission do the work.
M Servotronic.
In every driving situation, M Servotronic delivers the right steering power, by adjusting to suit the current driving speed. In addition, it delivers a direct and precise steering feel at any speed. The system is specifically calibrated to M vehicles and offers two different characteristic curves.
M Compound brake.
Thanks to the use of various materials, M Compound brakes achieve outstanding deceleration values and are extremely stable and highly durable. They also weigh less, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The Blue metallic brake callipers with the M designation are the hallmark of these high-performance M specific brakes.
M Sport exhaust system.
The M Sport exhaust system delivers a dynamic sound that can be modified via the integrated exhaust valve mechanism. The SPORT and SPORT+ programmes, which can be selected via the Driving dynamics buttons, are accentuated by an even more intense engine sound, while the comfort-oriented programme prioritises more discreet engine acoustics.

Adaptive M suspension.
The Adaptive M suspension can be electronically adjusted at any time to suit the road and driving conditions. The driver can also adjust the suspension characteristics via the Driving Experience Control to enable their preferred driving style at the time – from comfortable to extremely athletic with markedly agile handling.
Integral Active Steering.
Integral Active Steering combines support that varies based on the steering angle on the front axle, and rear wheels that also contribute to steering. At lower speeds, it offers greater manoeuvrability and agility by turning the rear wheels opposite the front wheels. Beginning around 60 km/h, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels, to increase driving stability and comfort.
Steptronic Sport transmission.
The 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission with Launch Control offers sporty gear changes, both automatically and manually via the selector lever or gearshift paddles – for comfortable cruising or dynamic driving. In SPORT mode and with the gear lever in the left-hand S/M position, the gear shifts are configured for maximum performance.
M Sport exhaust system.
The M sport exhaust system delivers a sound that can be adjusted to an even more intense engine sound with the driving dynamics buttons in the SPORT and SPORT+ programmes, while the comfort-oriented programme prioritises more discreet engine acoustics.
BMW Laserlight.
In laser high-beam mode, BMW Laserlight in a unique X design illuminates a range of up to 600 m, nearly twice as far as that of conventional headlights. Better visibility in the dark significantly increases safety. The blue X signature and the “BMW Laserlight” lettering underline the vehicle’s technological standards.
M specific design elements in Cerium Grey.
With M specific details in the exclusive signature colour of Cerium Grey, the BMW X5 M50i indicate their sports origins. Alongside the BMW kidney grille and the air inlets in the front apron, the design features also include the exterior mirror caps and the M roof spoiler. In addition, the trapezoid tailpipe trims and the M lettering on the distinctively designed rear are finished in Cerium Grey.
M light alloy wheels 747 M.
The 22-inch M light alloy wheels in 747 M style provide a powerful foundation for the BMW X5 M50i. Designed in V-spoke design in the M specific paint finish of Cerium Grey, the wheels round off the sporty and authoritative appearance of the two SAVs.
M Leather steering wheel.
The M Leather steering wheel including multifunction buttons, an M badge and an integrated driver-side airbag is featured in three-spoke design. With a steering wheel rim in leather 'Walknappa' Black with black stitching and contoured thumb rests, it provides a direct, athletic steering experience.
Interior trims Aluminium Tetragon.

M specific Head-Up Display.
The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display incl. M specific display* projects all information relevant to the journey directly into your field of vision, allowing you to fully concentrate on driving. Information such as the current speed and, depending on the equipment, navigation directions, Speed Limit Info including no-overtaking indicator, along with telephone and entertainment lists are displayed. * Only available in the BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X5 M.
BMW Live Cockpit Professional.
The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation function includes two high-quality displays consisting of a high-resolution 12.3" Control Display that can be operated by touch and a fully digital 12.3" instrument display.
Display Key with M logo.
The BMW Display Key with M logo displays various vehicle status data and allows selected functions to be operated via the integrated touch display. That allows vehicle functions to be conveniently operated with the key.
